Using the Safe Word

The Safe Word is the single most important control in BLINK. The button is always visible during an active session, in crimson, at the bottom of the screen. One tap ends the scene.

When to use it

Use the safe word when:

  • You are not okay.
  • You feel pressured beyond your comfort zone in a way you don't want to renegotiate inside the scene.
  • Something physical is going wrong.
  • You are losing the thread and want a clean stop, not a mid-session course correction.

You do not need a justification. The safe word is not a judgement call.

When not to use it

For small adjustments inside a scene that you want to continue, write a short message instead:

  • "Slow this down."
  • "Skip the next task."
  • "Too intense - take it back a notch."

See Writing Good Messages for patterns that work.

What happens when you tap it

The instant you tap, the session is marked ended:

  • The Domina ends the scene with a short, neutral acknowledgement.
  • No XP is awarded.
  • No rating screen appears.
  • If you sessioned with a personal Domina, her mood resets to neutral (it does not drift to disappointed). Preset Dominas always run in neutral mood regardless.
  • The session does count against your daily quota. On Free, that means a safeworded session uses up your one session for the day - there is no "free retry" via safeword. Use it when you need to, but knowing that.
  • The session shows up in your history.

After

You are back in the normal chat with your Domina. You can:

  • Take a break.
  • Chat with her about what didn't work.
  • Start a fresh session whenever you are ready.

She will not push you. After a safeword, she leans toward gentle follow-up unless you steer her elsewhere.

The word itself

You set your safe word during onboarding. You can change it any time on the Profile screen.

  • Pick something you would not say by accident.
  • Avoid words that are part of how you talk in scenes ("stop", "no", "please" are bad picks; "red" or "pineapple" are fine).
  • The current word is shown on the button so you do not have to remember it. The button still works if you tap it without typing.

The button is always visible

If at any point a session's UI seems to be hiding the safe word, treat that as a bug and force-close the app. You can re-open and continue from where you were; you cannot get stuck. The safe word is not allowed to be hidden by design.
